The Alaska Series
The Alaska Series is an ongoing effort of Jon and Jeff as they continue their collaboration of creating “Double Vision Alaska” artwork whereby Jon paints on top of one of Jeff’s photos creating a unique piece of art. The Alaska Series is the semi-regular release of very limited edition Giclee prints of various Alaska themes. Check back to this page for more releases as time goes on.
In order to create the artwork in the Alaska Series, Jon and Jeff discuss (and banter back and forth) of their life experiences of living in the Last Frontier. Once they both feel a theme is right, they review some of Jeff’s best landscape photos which relate to the genre & season. With Jon in the lead, they continue to discuss & banter as Jon does some preliminary sketches of what he might add to a particular photo. That’s when they choose which of Jeff’s photos they’ll work on next. A large print is made of Jeff’s image, delivered to Jon, and Jon does his magic with brush and paint on top of the print just like he’s done on his best artwork for over fifty years. Oftentimes Jon’s creativity takes a turn from the original plan as he puts his brush to the photo canvas and a new theme is created.
In celebration of the State of Alaska being the 49th State of the Union, each of the releases in The Alaska Series will be limited in edition to only 49 prints. Each Giclee print is made-to-order, printed on heavy-weight archival paper, signed and numbered by each artist. The size of each themed print will be somewhat different based on the artists’ creation. Review each print below to see its size and pricing.
The cost of the print includes shipping in a 3” cardboard tube by USPS priority, insured mail to anywhere in the USA. Sorry, no international orders. Because each print is made to order, once you order your print, expect delivery in approximately two weeks.
PREMIUM OFFER: For each themed print, Jeff and Jon have created just ONE Premium. The Premium consists of two original items:
- The original sketch Jon created for this particular theme. Signed and dated by Jon. Typically created with pen or pencil on an approximate 8 -1/2 x 11-ish standard white paper.
- An original approx. 8” x 12” photo print of Jeff’s landscape image without Jon’s painting on top. A “before” print, if you will. This print is signed and dated by Jeff.
This Premium is a one-of-a-kind offer for each themed release print. First come at $350 and will be sent with your artwork.
ORIGINALS: There is but one original of each themed print. This original of each of the Alaska Series images will be available on a first-come basis. Price & size of the original will vary.
